Senior property tax exemptions by state

Most states have at least one property tax break for older homeowners: an extra exemption, a freeze on your value or tax, a deferral or a credit. Here they are side by side.

Age: the main starting age the rule states; some breaks also cover people with disabilities or surviving spouses at a younger age. Income limits change every year and count income in different ways; read each rule. Local options are not listed unless the state requires them.
